This stamp was created from the year 1992 by Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center (SMBC). A Center that has interfered in a study on the relation between the migratory birds and the plantíos of coffee.
The program "Bird Friendly" was created in 1998 to grant the license to importers, toasters and comercializadores; in the use of the stamp "Bird Friendly" there is guaranteed a support of 25 cents by pound of roasted coffee by certification. This money is sent to the SMBC and is destined for projects of investigation, studies in process, training and education for producers and consumers on topics of the cultura of coffee under shade.
